Atomic Bomb Preparation Day 1

Objective: Students will be able to: 
  • Recall and reflect on their understanding of the causes/issues involved in WWII for the United States. 
  • Summarize the issues facing the United States leading up to the decision to drop the atomic bomb. 
  • Support their analysis of the issues and defend a personal point of view on the question. 
Agenda: 
  1. Attendance
  2. Review and Answer the "Background" Questions on the Prep packet 
  3. Read and Annotate - "July 1945: The Moment of Decision" 
  4. Using the reading, answer the remaining questions on the Discussion Prep Packet

  • On Day 2 - Students will get an individual point of view to prepare and defend for the Atomic Bomb Debate. The debate is on Day 3 of this week: 
    • Light Blue - Discussion on Wednesday
    • Dark Blue - Discussion on Wednesday
    • Orange - Discussion on Thursday
